Mangakino and Whakamaru have beautifully scenic lakes on offer, a result of the Hydro Dams which themselves are spectacular structures to see.

EW - Mangakino Geothermal Field
Mangakino is a large field with no remaining surface features above water level, on the western edge of the Taupo volcanic zone. Mangakino has no natural surface features remaining. Mangakino is classified for development by Environment Waikato. The Mangakino system has the potential to be developed for power generation, but is currently undeveloped.
